Here are a few addresses of folks we know
deserve our support:
Michael Detweiler ATTN: AnyAirman Task Force Medical Combat Stress Control Bagram AB APO AE 09354
(NOTE: This guy selflessly gave me
others' addresses to send to! He's Air Force, on the Afghan/Pakistan
border!)
SSgt Shane Snyder ATTN: Any Marine BITT Team 22 Unit 42726 FPO AE 96426-2726 (NOTE: His is a Marine unit training Iraqis on the Syrian border....isolated) TSgt Ralph Binion ATTN: Any Airman Panshir PRT APO AE 09354 (An Air Force COOK) Medic/Aid Station Kamdesh APO AE 09354 ATTN: Sgt Christian Noel (On the badlands border...helps locals and fire support teams....good guy!) Medic/Aid Station Naray APO AE 09354 (Send anything, and it'll all be appreciated!) ATTN: Craig Shriver (He's one of the surgeons....likes to help everybody!) Medic/Aid Station Gowardesh/Camp Libert APO AE 09354 These are just a few of the MANY deserving units out there. I personally like to support the units I think are most isolated or in the most danger. Please look at "AnySoldier.Com" and try to pick out folks to support. You'll see all the things they really appreciate us sending over the following type items: Local newspapers Bubble Gum Hard candy Tootsie Pops Mixed Crackers' packs (peanut butter, cheese, etc) Large bags of peanuts (They love them! Only $5 a pop!) Tabasco Sauce Magazines (old & new) (Look and see if there are women there before you send "Women's Day", but the guys like "Maxim"! No Porn!) Paperback books (or hardcover!) Individual drink mixes....Crystal Light, etc) Candy (No chocolate...melts) Trail Mix Bars Beef Jerky Chewing gum Small toys or clothing for local kids...used are O.K.! Body lotion Toothpaste and brushes and floss Bug spray Suntan Lotion Q-Tips Band-Aids shampoo fingernail clippers emory boards SOCKS! (They go through a LOT!) Boot inserts IF YOU CAN IMAGINE NEEDING OR WANTING SOMETHING IN AN ISOLATED LOCATION, THEY'LL USE IT AND APPRECIATE IT!!! Old DVDs and CDs are always a big hit. Remember............DO NOT MIX FOODS and hygiene items....crackers taste like Ivory Snow in 4 week's transit! Magazines, books, DVDs and CDs all are mailed by "Media Mail"....very cheap! Keep that separated. REMEMBER....YOU do not have to send it all to all of them, but every little bit helps, and if enough of us do it, we'll make a big difference! The biggest pain is the Customs Forms. You don't need to be exact. I say "100 snack items" instead of listing everything. Be creative! God Bless all who join in and help with this! Dan Awalt |
